I read the previous three (The Goose Girl, Enna Burning, and River Secrets) quite some time ago, but I found, surprisingly enough, that I didn't need to remember too many details from the previous books to jump right back in and not be overwhelmingly lost. I enjoyed this continuation of the series, and was happy to reacquaint myself with Isi, Geric, Enna, Razo, Finn, Dasha and the others, but I discovered along the way that I would be happy enough if the series ended here, with Rin's story. I've enjoyed each book in the series, but I won't mind not reading another one. Shannon Hale is an incredible writer, and I look forward to seeing what she comes up with in the future.
